[tex]1+2+3+\cdots=210[/tex] merupakan deret aritmatika dengan [tex]a=1[/tex] dan [tex]b=1[/tex]. Rumus jumlah untuk deret aritmatika tersebut adalah:

[tex]S_n= \frac{n}{2}(2a+(n-1)b) [/tex]

Selanjutnya substitusikan nilai-nilai yang diketahui pada rumus jumlah diatas, yaitu:

[tex]210= \frac{n}{2} (2\times1+(n-1)\times1) \\ 210=\frac{n}{2} (2+n-1) \\ 210=\frac{n}{2} (1+n) \\ 420=n+n^2 [/tex]

solusi dari persamaan diatas adalah [tex]n=20[/tex] atau [tex]n=-21[/tex], jadi yang paling mungkin adalah [tex]n=20[/tex].

Dari sini bisa disimpulkan bahwa banyaknya suku ada 20, sehingga banyaknya sukuyang harus ditambahkan pada  deret diatas agar jumlahnya 210 adalah 17 suku.
