Hal ini karena Etanamida memiliki tarikan polar antara molekulnya. Atom hidrogen dalam gugus -NH2 dalam asetamida cukup positif untuk membentuk ikatan hidrogen dengan pasangan tunggal pada atom oksigen di gugus =O, dari molekul asetamida lain.

 

Semakin besar tarikan antara molekulnya, akan membuat perlu lebih banyak energi kalor untuk memecah ikatan ini dan membuatnya mengalami perubahan fase (meleleh atau menguap), yang menyebabkan tingginya titik leleh Etanamida.
